Leaving the track is just the beginning.
Racehorses — whether Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, or Standardbred — are conditioned for one very specific job. High-starch, high-energy diets fuel explosive performance, but that fuel doesn't translate to life after racing. The transition to a forage-forward diet, a new discipline, and a new environment is a critical window that requires careful, individualized nutrition support.
Up to 90% of racehorses leave the track with gastric ulcers. Ulcer prevention is built into every Off the Track Transition plan. We always recommend working with your vet to diagnose and treat active ulcers and we’ll support your horse’s gut health every step of the way while you get there.
Race fit and sport fit are not the same thing. Neither are their diets.
Includes
Comprehensive intake assessment - including racing background and how far a long into their letdown they are
Individualized 60-90 day nutrition transition plan - varies based on horse
Ulcer prevention protocol built into every plan
Discipline-specific fueling goals tailored to your horse’s new career
Regular check-ins and BCS monitoring through transition
Owner education and ongoing support
Every horse leaves the track differently, this plan meets them where they are.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Not necessarily. A hay analysis is helpful and I'll often recommend getting one as part of the process, but it's not a prerequisite to getting started. We can work with what you have and build from there.
-
Absolutely. I work collaboratively with veterinary teams and welcome the opportunity to coordinate care. Nutrition and veterinary medicine go hand in hand, and I'll always defer to your vet on medical decisions while supporting the nutritional side.
-
No. Blood work is not required to get started. That said, I always recommend a serum Vitamin E test, and depending on your horse's health history and body condition, I may suggest additional testing to help build the most accurate and effective nutrition plan possible.
-
Yes. Many of my clients come to me specifically because their horse has a metabolic condition, digestive issue, or other health concern that makes nutrition more complex. I'll work within your vet's guidelines to build a plan that supports your horse's overall care.
-
That's more common than you'd think. Part of what we do in the initial assessment is take stock of exactly what's going into your horse's diet, even if that picture isn't fully clear yet. You don't need to have it figured out before reaching out.
-
Yes, from backyard horses to upper-level performance horses, and everything in between. Nutrition principles are universal even if the application varies by workload, breed, and individual horse.
-
If you're unsure, the fit call is the best place to start. It's a no-pressure conversation where we can figure out together what level of support makes the most sense for you and your horse.
-
Yes — payment plans are available for all services. Every horse deserves individualized nutrition support and I want to make that accessible. Reach out and we can work out a plan that fits your situation.
